FastAlpaca setup
Configure account-specific API credentials and choose a paper or live endpoint in FastDOM.

1. Prepare your account credentials
Get the API key and secret for the Alpaca account you want to connect. Paper and live accounts use different credentials. Start with paper credentials when learning the workflow.
2. Add the account in FastDOM
Open Configuration → Brokers and enable Alpaca. Under Alpaca Accounts, add a row with a recognizable name, API key, API secret, and the correct Paper selection. Keep credentials private.
3. Confirm Paper or Live
The Paper checkbox determines the endpoint for that account. Verify this setting before selecting the account in the trading workspace. Save your configuration and connect or reconnect as required.
4. Verify the connection
Select Alpaca and the intended account. Confirm account information, symbol, and quote freshness, then test the order lifecycle in paper mode before using live credentials.
Alpaca does not provide the Level 2 order book used by depth-based tools. Market-data coverage depends on your account’s data access.
